Kenneth J. Arrowsmith, 81, died Sept. 27, 2008, in Springerville. He was born on May 26, 1927, in Odin, Ill., to Alva and Juanita Arrowsmith.
Kenneth served his country in the U.S. Navy in both World War II in the Pacific and in the Korean War. He worked as a mechanic in Illinois before coming to Arizona in 1953. He retired in 1992 from the copper mine in San Manuel where he worked as a hoistman large. He enjoyed working on cars, fishing and hunting. Being the farm boy that he was, he liked to garden.
At his home in Tucson he grew corn, tomatoes and chile peppers. Ken and his wife, Royce, bought land in Greer and had a cabin built so they could spend summers in the cool pines. Kenneth did a lot of the finishing work on the cabin.
He is survived by wife Royce, son Monte Arrowsmith of Tucson and sister Louise Erno of Palm Springs, Fla.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ed Arrowsmith and daughter Kathy Arrowsmith.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 4, at 2 p.m. at the Greer Community Center.
