Dona Irene Gross, 89, passed away Feb. 14, 2008, in California. She was born Dec. 9, 1918 in Lawrenceville, Ill., to Mark and Jennie (McKeown) Schoyer.
Dona grew up in Indiana, worked as an aircraft assembler during World War II and enjoyed her important role as wife to Chuck Gross, who passed away in September of 2007 and mother to her only son. She loved to watch the birds, look at flowers, ride horses, enjoyed her pet dogs and enjoyed all that the outdoors offered. Her favorite restaurant was the Lake Havasu Elks Club. Dona left Lake Havasu City to live with her son Chuck and daughter-in-law Vivian on Oct. 30, 2007. While there she enjoyed life to the fullest, seeing her great-grandchildren, and grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Chuck; daughter-in-law, Vivian; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, as well as a sister who lives in Illinois.
A memorial service will be Saturday at 11 a.m., at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Words of comfort and inspiration will be presented by her son, Chuck.
