Lorraine Pettigrew passed away Sunday, Feb. 17, 2008, at Havasu Regional Medical Center. She was born Dec. 21, 1933, in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Lewis and Alice Vondrasek.
Lorraine met Jim Pettigrew and the two were married on June 23, 1951, in Casper, Wyo.
Lorraine and Jim lived in Rawlings, Wyo., for 50 years prior to moving to Lake Havasu City 13 years ago. Lorraine was an active member in the Jr. Old Timers, Soroptimist, Fan Club, and Lake Havasu Hospice volunteer. Lorraine and her husband Jim moved to Lake Havasu City after they both retired from the Union Pacific Railroad.
Lorraine owned J&L Silks & Ceramics, where she taught all the techniques of ceramics and porcelain. Her greatest joys in life were her three daughters, her six grandchildren, and her four great grand children. She loved to travel with her husband Jim and went to new places as often as possible. She became a volunteer with Hospice after Jim’s passing three years ago.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents; son, Henry Pettigrew; husband, Jim Pettigrew, and her sister, Beatrice Knudson. She is survived by daughters, Chris (Larry) Glenz, of Mt. Vernon, Texas, Alice “tink” (Dave) Day, of Rawlins, Wyo., Mary (Vince) Hansen, of Rawlins; brother, Jim (Camilla) Buck, Parker, Colo.; Grandchildren, Dariel Itzen, of Casper, Wyo., Alanta Knox, of Pittsburg, Texas, April Day, of Lake Havasu City, Jim Johnston, of Astoria, Ore., Natalie Hansen, Chelsea Hansen, and Tammy Day, all of Rawlins.
A memorial service was held for Lorraine at St. Michaels United Methodist Church on Feb. 21 at 2 p.m. Reverend Richard Rounds officiated the service. Donations can be made to Hospice of Havasu.
