The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ October 6, 2008 Steve Murphy, 50, of Show Low died Oct. 1, 2008, after a courageous lifelong battle with heart disease. He was a loving husband, father, mentor and coach. He was a very loved and respected man. He loved nothing more than to be coaching and teaching kids. His love was basketball and he always had a positive effect on the kids he was coaching. He was well know in the community and was an inspiration to everyone he was around. He always had a smile on his face and there will never be a day when he is not thought about. "We love you and you will be dearly missed." He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Marla; sons Forrest and girlfriend Morgan Wethington, Brian and girlfriend Sarah Butler and Jordan and fiancée Rachael Marin; seven sisters, Muriel "Mo" (Joe) Caparella, Barbara Hoover, Monica (Ken) Miller, Patricia "Patty" Murphy, Mary (Rich) Ricci, Diana "Dee Dee" (Gary) Simpson and Beth (Bill) Murray; four brothers; Phillip "Buddy" (Traci) Murphy, Robert "Robbie" (Jackie) Murphy, Kevin Murphy, Raymond (Marta) Murphy, as well as 25 nephews and nieces; 14 great nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents; John and Eleanor, sister Deborah and brother Jimmy. A visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 8, from 5-7 p.m. at Owens Livingston Mortuary, White Mountain Chapel, 320 N. 9th Street, Show Low. Memorial services will be held 3: p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9, at the Show Low High School Auditorium. Owens Livingston Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
