Lloyd W. Moore died peacefully in his sleep at home surrounded by his loving family on Jan. 11, 2008. He was born Feb. 27, 1928, in Dell Rapids, S.D. to Luther and Mary Alta (Lewis) Moore.
He married his wife of nearly 60 years, Louise B. Young, in Sioux Falls, S.D., Aug. 7, 1948. They built their home in Sioux Falls where they raised their children. Lloyd was a manager in the meat processing industry, and after retiring he earned an associate degree in accounting. He was also an accomplished carpenter, publisher and handyman.
He enjoyed gardening, caring for his lawn, and was an avid hunter and fisherman. After retiring, he and his beloved wife continued to spend summers at their family home in South Dakota and their winters in Lake Havasu City.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; children, Melissa Slominski, Lloyd Jr., Robert, Earl, Linda White, and Dawn Friese; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild; brother, Ralph and sister Opal Swart.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Dominic Moore.
Private family services have been held in Portland, Ore., where he and his wife had moved to be closer to their three daughters.
Arrangements were entrusted to Wilhelm Funeral Home.
