Pastor Nicky Allen Wright, 51, passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008, in Phoenix. He was born Jan. 17, 1956, in Wilson, Okla., to Donald A. and Christine (Tackett) Wright.
Nick moved to Lake Havasu City with his family when he was 8 from Fox, Okla. He graduated from Lake Havasu High School in 1974 and proudly served under the direction of the U.S. Marines from 1976-1980, earning the honor of Presidential Support Team for President Carter. Nick married Pina Patel on Aug. 25, 1981, in Phoenix.
Pastor Nick was the senior pastor of God’s Grace Church from 1998 until his death. He was a member of the Lake Havasu City Pastor’s Association. He loved boating and fishing on Lake Havasu with his family and friends. Nick loved being a pastor and had a heart for people who were hurting. He was a singer and songwriter for the band Angelharp and recorded the CD, “God has what you need,” in 2000. Pastor Nick was loved and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Pastor Nick is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Pina Wright; daughters, Keysha and Monique Wright; sister, Donna (Terry) Caley; parents, Donald and Christine Wright, all of Lake Havasu City; nephews, Chris (Jennifer) York and Donald (Nikki) York, of Lake Havasu City, and Tarak and Tristan Patel, of Florida; grandniece, Tara York, grandnephews, Jaden and Jacob York, all of Lake Havasu City.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at Starline Elementary School, 3150 Starline Dr. at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers Nick’s family requests donations be made to the Keysha and Monique Wright Educational Fund c/o God’s Grace Church, 1535 El Camino Dr., Lake Havasu City, AZ, 86403.
