Betty Lou Clark-Whitener, 83, was called to be with the Lord on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, in Las Vegas, Nev. She was born on Oct. 19, 1924, in Muscatine, Iowa, to Guy O. and Frances Gertrude Connor.
Betty moved to Lake Havasu City 36 years ago from Davenport, Iowa. She was an accomplished vocalist and member of the Morgan Sisters Trio, traveling with the Camel Caravan during WWII and continued in entertainment throughout her life.
Betty married Kenneth LeRoy Clark in 1947 and had six children. Kenny passed away in 1987 and Betty remarried Walter E. Whitener in 1993.
She was the most awesome and inspiring mother that anyone could ever want. Betty will be desperately loved and missed, by everyone that she touched.
Betty is survived by her husband, Walter E. Whitener; son, Matthew L. (Julie) Clark; daughters, Diane L. (Paul) Kaufmann, Nancy L. (Ed) Clark, all of Lake Havasu City; brother, John Connor, of Iowa; sisters, Joan Lawrence, of Iowa, Patricia Hoeksema, of Florida; sister-in-law, Dianne M. Clark, of North Dakota; grandchildren, Jeremy and Seth Bettis, Misti Ackeberg, Ingrid, Edward and Shannon Glomboske, Jayson, Hunter, Joshua, Jordan and Mathhew Clark; and great grandchildren, Alexis, Aaron, Meghan, Mackenzie, Gage, Brianna, Zoe, Nathan, Natalie, Tyler, Ava, Nevaeh and Fallon. She was preceded in death by her identical twin sons, Mark S. and David L. Clark; and son, Kent L. Clark.
A memorial service will be held at Stonebridge Christian Fellowship on Saturday at 2 p.m. Words of wisdom and inspiration will be said by Pastor Richard Tatham.
