Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Wednesday, January 9, 2008 Russell G. Christensen, 63, of Lake Havasu City, passed away peacefully at his residence in the early morning hours Monday, Jan. 7, 2008. He died in the presence of loved ones after a long hard-fought battle with cancer. Russell Gene Christensen was born Aug. 25, 1944, in Long Beach, Calif., to Edwin and Ethlyn Christensen. Russell served in the United States Marine Corps and is a Vietnam War veteran. After 27 years with the US Bureau of Reclamation, Russ retired as a Hydro-Electric Mechanic Foreman 1 at Parker Dam Jan. 1, 2005. Russell enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and being outdoors, boating, water skiing, riding dirt bikes, driving dune buggies and playing with his prized Model - T. He was handy with tools, too, tinkering around in his shop for hours fixing up old clunkers. He was always eager to learn about new technologies and mechanical inventions and he enjoyed sharing his own knowledge with others. Russ was a very kind and friendly man who will be sorely missed by all that knew him. Russell was preceded in death by his father, Edwin; his baby brother, Roger; and his first wife, Asdis. Russell is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Beverly "Bev," of Lake Havasu City; brother, Ronnie, of Emmett, Idaho; daughters, Mary (Darron) Hanie, of Adairsville, Ga., Krissy Christensen, of Lake Havasu City, Sarah Christensen, of Ft. Mohave; son, Billy (Kelsey) Christensen, of Spokane, Wash.; grandson, Marcus Hanie; and granddaughter, Kayla Hanie, both of Adairsville, Ga. Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, Russell's family has requested that donations be made in his name to: American Cancer Society, P.O.
