Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Wednesday, January 9, 2008 Josephine Bernadette Vineyard passed away on Dec. 28, 2007, in Lake Havasu City at the age of 81. She was born July 29, 1926, in Springfield, Ohio, to Anthony and Marie (Zawrotniak) Szempruch, one of 13 children. Josephine worked as a chemical dependency counselor for the King County Office of Alcohol and Chemical Dependency in Seattle, Wash., for 15 years. She made Lake Havasu City her home 10 years ago, moving here from Kent. Wash. Josephine was an active member of Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church as well as a member of the church choir. She also volunteered at St. Vincent De Paul and was a member of the Moose Lodge. Josephine is survived by her daughter, Eileen (Mark) Nexsen, of Lake Havasu City; sons, Frank B. Walsh III and Brian A Walsh, both of Seattle, Wash.; sisters, Katherine Hynes, of Springfield, Ohio, Millie Leonard, of Plano, Texas, Frances Bruney, of New Albany, Ohio, Mary Jane Schwartz, of Springfield, Ohio; brothers, Thomas Szempruch of Naples, Fla., Joseph Szempruch and Edward Szempruch, both of Springfield; and grandchildren, Jonathon Nexsen and Megan Walsh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank B. Walsh Jr.; brothers, Walter, August, Anthony and Robert Szempruch; and sister, Helen Wulfekuhl. Rosary for Josephine will be said at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church Jan. 14, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. A Memorial Mass will immediately with Father Fidelis Igwenwanne offering words of comfort and reassurance. Her family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Josephine’s name to St. Vincent De Paul, 1851 Commander Dr., Lake Havasu City, AZ; 86406, Attn: Karen.
