Steven Watkins, 60, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2010.
Mr. Watkins was born March 1, 1950, in Waterloo, Iowa. His mother and father, Morris and Lois Watkins, served the Lord as missionaries in Nigeria, where Mr. Watkins was raised. After coming back to the United States in 1964, he pursued a higher education, earning a variety of degrees and certificates in the study of theology. He was a man of great conviction, dedicating his life to the ministry and touching the lives of many souls looking for guidance and love. The author of seven books, Mr. Watkins worked closely with the Navajo people of Arizona in addition to other Native American tribes across the West.
Mr. Watkins is survived by wife Peggy; sons David and Daniel Watkins; stepson and stepdaughter Loren and Ladine; and siblings Sharron, Mark, Paul, Debbie, Joanna and David.
Services will be today at 1:30 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 3430 N. Fourth St. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.norvelowensmortuary.com.
