The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ October 9, 2008 Dena Ann Massey of Turkey Creek went home to be with the Lord Oct. 2, 2008, in Phoenix. She was born March 10, 1939, in Canyon Day. Dena is survived by Daniel and Bernita Hinton, Mark and Berlinda Sue Hopper, Lebert and Brenda Kay Altaha, David and Colleen Massey, Daniel Massey, Dave and Treva Massey Sr., Yoshbel Benally and Kyrene Ruth Declay; 23 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; three sisters, Thelma Riley, Althea Ivins and Irene Billy; brother Reno Johnson Sr., brother-in-law Jimmy Riley; five sisters-in-law, Mary Johnson, Rita Johnson, Zina Johnson from Bylas, Dorothy Walker and Neva Cosen; three godchildren through church, Hillary Walker, Stella Silas and Frank Silas Sr.; six traditional goddaughters, Lupita Gass, Mylinda Cosen, Fern Kessay, Kona Beatty, Marian Beatty and Gwendolyn Peaches. Dena was preceded in death by her husband, Oney Massey Sr.; son Oney Massey Jr.; daughter Bernadine Massey; and parents Robert and June Johnson. Her body was taken back to her residence for a two-night wake in Turkey Creek, starting at 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 9. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, at the Canyon Day Miracle Church. Interment will be at the Canyon Day Family Plot.
