Marion Elaine Green, 84, of Scottsdale, AZ, passed away January 3, 2004. Born in Columbus, OH on July 30, 1919, she married Kenneth E. Webb in 1943. To this union two children were born, Donald Lee in 1944 and Connie Mae in 1947.
Kenneth died in the 1947 Texas City explosion. Marion then moved with her two children to Phoenix, AZ. Here she married Donald E. Green in 1948. In 1954 a second daughter, Lori Lynn, was born.
Marion delivered the valedictorian speech in the graduation ceremony in 1962 from Phoenix College. She then entered ASU where she received a BA in Education in 1964 and a MA in History in 1966. Marion taught junior high school English and History for 9 years in Los Angeles, CA and 10 years in Las Vegas, NV. In 1979 she returned to college and received a MS in Counseling at UNLV. She retired from teaching in 1986.
Marion is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donald Green, her two daughters, Ms. Connie Carruthers and Ms. Lori Ascani, five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son Donald, and grandson Walter.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Jan. 10, 2004, at The Church of the Epiphany, 2222 S. Price Rd., Tempe, AZ. Flowers should be delivered to the church by noon the day of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1028 E. McDowell Rd., Phoenix, AZ 85006. Arrangements by Messinger Indian School Mortuary, Scottsdale, AZ.
