SIMS, Karl Merritt

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, November 27, 2010 Karl Merritt Sims, age 83, passed away on Nov. 19, 2010, in Prescott, Ariz. He was born on Oct. 31, 1927, in Las Vegas, Nev., to Alva and Inez (Frost) Sims. Karl attended Prescott High School and then joined the U.S. Navy. After the Navy, Karl came back to Prescott and made his career as a mail carrier for 36 years, retiring in 1982. He enjoyed fishing, reading and most especially, his family. Karl is survived by his three daughters, Karen (Howard) Hughes, Karla Johnston and Carolyn (David) Dicus; seven grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and sisters Edith Mahana, Mary Jo Collins and Barbara (Dexter) Gill. A service for Karl will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at the Worship Center of First Baptist Church, 148 S. Marina St., Prescott. Hampton Funeral Home was entrusted with the arrangements.
