MCCALLSON, Conrad (Mac) E.


Conrad (Mac) E. McCallson, age 85, of Security, Colorado, died suddenly on January 2, 2004 in Apache Junction, Arizona where he spent his winters after retiring in 1983. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Edith, mother and father Clara and Edward, sisters Pearl, Ester, Josie, brothers Elton, Leonard and Clifford. He is survived by brothers Gordon and Elmer, sisters Louise and Florence as well as sons Bruce of Dallas, Texas, Patrick of Albuquerque, New Mexico and daughter Cheryl Stewart of Rio Rancho, New Mexico. Five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren also survive him. Conrad (Mac) was born in Stacey, Minnesota on October 18, 1918. He married Edith Engletine Johnson on October 5, 1940 in Harmony, Minnesota where they made their home until 1951. They then moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado. In 1955, they moved to Security, Colorado where he remained until his death. Mac served in the Army from 1942 to 1945. He served in Palelilou, Anguar, the Philippines and Amomori, Japan all as part of the 81st Infantry "Wildcat" Division. He was employed at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs as a painter in the maintenance department for approximately 30 years. Mac was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the VFW and the Lions club, serving as a trustee at the Lions Camp in Woodland Park. He was an avid fisherman and reader, and he and Edith enjoyed traveling together. They had many life-long friends, some of whom they wintered in Arizona with after their retirement. He continued to go to Arizona each winter after his wife's death. Memorial services will be held at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Apache Junction on Friday, January 9, 2004 for his Arizona friends. There will also be a Memorial Service at Faith Lutheran Church in Security, Colorado on Wednesday, January 14, 2004. Memorial contributions may be made to Pikes Peak Hospice, Colorado Springs, Colorado, Faith Lutheran Church, Security, Colorado, or Epiphany Lutheran Church, Apache Junction, Arizona.
