BOTTOMS, Rodney Van


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ October 13, 2008 Rodney Van Bottoms died Oct. 11, 2008, at his home in Taylor after an extended illness. He was born May 24, 1940, in Golden, Colo., the first son of William Bottoms and Clara Estalee Sampson. He is survived by his wife, Clarice Tyler Bottoms; daughters Kim (Rich) Higbee and Melanie (Kelly) Petago; sons Todd (Jodi) Bottoms, Eric (Marcy) Petago and Ed (Michelle) Petago; 16 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one brother, Sam (Sharon) Bottoms; and sisters Judy Vigil and Bruna Musso. Rod was preceded in death by his parents. He served in the Air Force during the Vietnam War and 40-plus years in all aspects of law enforcement. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had served in many different callings. A viewing will be held Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Silver Creek Mortuary 745 Paper Mill Road, in Taylor. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m. with a 10 a.m. visitation at the Love Lake Chapel. Interment will be in the Tyler Family Cemetery following the services. Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor is handling the arrangements.
