MODLIN, Paul Levi


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ October 16, 2008 Paul Levi Modlin, 81, of Casa Grande died Oct. 11, 2008 at RTA Hospice and Palliative Care. He was born Nov. 17, 1926, in Belle Plaine, Iowa. Modlin was a well known artist and exhibited his work in Scottsdale, Tucson and Mazatlan, Mexico. He attended Cummings School of Art in Des Moines, Iowa, and also the institute in San Miguel De Allende, Mexico. He was an avid golfer and loved fishing. He served as vice mayor of Casa Grande once and was the state vice president of Jaycees of Arizona. He owned and operated the Quick Draw Tavern in the early '60s. He and his wife, June H. Modlin, had been married for 60 years. They exchanged vows Oct. 26, 1947. Paul is survived by his wife, June H. Modlin of Casa Grande; son Brett Modlin of Mesa; daughters Paula Armenta of Chandler and Paige Modlin of Gilbert; brother James Modlin of Casa Grande; sister Nancy McClain of Waterloo, Iowa; three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by son Blake Modlin, four brothers and three sisters. A celebration of life was held Oct. 15 at the First Presbyterian Church of Casa Grande with pastors Ben Sell and James Cobb officiating.
