Verna Frances Castleberry, 87, of Flagstaff and Phoenix, Arizona passed away on January 7, 2004. Verna was a native Arizonan born in Camp Verde on December 6, 1916 to Alston D. and Beatrice Morse. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Verdis E. (Curly) Castleberry. Verna devoted her life to the happiness and well being of her family and friends. Her love of outdoor beauty and all of God's creatures was one of her greatest pleasures. She was an expert gardener with a deep passion for flowers and trees. Verna is survived by two sons, Eldon (wife Dorene) and Olin (wife Kathleen). Her first grandson Verdis L. was born to Olin. Grandsons Eldon Jr. Paul and Ronnie followed in Eldon's family. To her joy, her family grew to include 9 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild. Funeral services will be held at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 7924 N. 59th Ave. on Tuesday, January 13, 2004. She will be laid to rest next to her beloved Curly at Resthaven Park Cemetery 6290 W. Northern Ave., Glendale, Az. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Liberty Wildlife Rehabilitation Foundation or the Arizona Animal Welfare League would be appreciated.
