CROZIER, Arthur Garnett


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ August 28, 2008 Arthur Garnett Crozier, 58, died in the early morning hours of Aug. 25, 2008, at his home following a sudden heart illness. Arthur was born Aug. 20, 1950, in McNary to Arthur and Harriet Crozier. Arthur attended the McNary Grade School and later the Blue Ridge School District. Following his high school graduation, he attended Arizona State University in Tempe and Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. He worked in the real estate industry for more then 35 years and held designation as a Certified Residential Specialist (CRS), Graduate Realtor Institute (GRI) and Accredited Buyer's Representation (ABR). He had practiced as an associate broker with Frank M. Smith and Associates for the past 24 years. During Arthur's extensive real estate career, he served in many capacities within the local and state associations. Within the White Mountain Association, he served as treasurer, president elect, president, past president and on several terms on the board of directors. He gave a great deal of his time and talent to the Arizona Association of Realtors serving as president of the state association in 1997. He also served as treasure, president-elect and again on the executive committee. He worked zealously for the state and local RAPAC committees. He also gave his time to the Governmental Committee, Professional Development, Housing Needs Foundation Director, AAR Housing Opportunity Network, Public Policy Oversight Committee, Issues Mobilization Committee, Legislative Liaisons, Fair and Affordable Housing Work Group, Information Management Work Group, Speakers Bureau, among a few of the committees. Arthur served nine years as a member of the State of Arizona Housing Commission appointed by Gov. Jane Hull. He was appointed by Gov. Janet Napolitano to serve on the Arizona State Housing Finance Commission. Arthur received the Distinguished Service Award in 2004 presented to him by the Arizona Association of Realtors for all his dedication to the industry. Throughout his life, Arthur was a gifted musician, extremely talented on the piano and organ. He was a member of Pinetop's Community Presbyterian Church and, from the age of 14, until his death, he served as its organist. He also served two terms as one of the deacons of Community Presbyterian Church. Never having the time to sit idle, Arthur also operated Crozier's Fine Foods Restaurant from 1971 to 1989, also during that time period opening the first restaurant at the Pinetop Lakes Country Club. More recently he owned and operated the Arizona Midtown Travel Agency in Pinetop. Arthur was always a loyal and loving son and was quite devoted to both his mother and father. He demonstrated the love he had for his family during the many adventures he shared with them in traveling to various locations throughout the country and the world. Arthur was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Crozier, in March of 1994. He is survived by his mother, Harriet "Hattie" Crozier of Pinetop; sister Kimberly (Dewayne) Applegate of Pinetop; two nephews, Ryan Applegate of Mesa and Aaron Applegate (Cami) of Pinetop; three nieces, Patricia (Travis) Kraft of Scottsdale, Amy (Jeff) Kohl of Show Low and Kayla Applegate of Pinetop. Service of Witness to the Resurrection shall be held Aug. 30 at 2 p.m. at the Community Presbyterian Church, 1940 S. Penrod Lane, in Pinetop where Pastor Tom Berry will officiate. Private inurnment will be held at the Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to National Bank of Arizona in the name of Arthur Crozier. Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
