The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ September 11, 2008 Edna VanCleave, 78, returned home to her Heavenly Father Sept. 9, 2008, in Mesa surrounded by her family. She was born March 13, 1930, in Douglas to Smith and Charlotte Langston. Although she lived in many places, she moved to the White Mountains in 1962 and claimed Snowflake as her home. She was loved by all who knew her. Edna loved to collect lighthouses, pets and kids. She considered all kids her own. Not only did she raise her own children, she helped raise many children. Edna was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Snowflake Sixth Ward. She loved her Savior and had a deep testimony of his love. She is survived by six children, LeRay (Diane) Childers, John Childers, Amy (Tony) Adams, Dixie Barr, Laura McKey and Donnie Kennedy; four brothers and sisters, Ellen Schacher, Duke (Pat) Langston, Helen Larson and Lee (Rowena) Langston; 20 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters, Roberta Langston, Jimmy Langston, Joedy Zane and Joe Langston; three grandsons and son-in-law John Barr. A visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 14, at the Owens Livingston Mortuary, Snowflake Heritage Chapel, 84 E. 19 S., Snowflake. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 15, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Main Street Chapel in Snowflake with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the R.V. "Mike" Ramsay Memorial Cemetery. Owens Livingston Mortuary of Snowflake handled the arrangements.
