BOUCHIER, Jack Dee (Dr.)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ July 24, 2008 Dr. Jack Dee Bouchier died early Friday morning July, 18 2008, at Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low. For 69 years he lived a life full of helping others. Jack was born March 11, 1939, in Lubbock, Texas to Austin and Cora Lee Bouchier. Graduating from Valley High School in Albuquerque, N.M. in 1957, Jack's high school career involved the National Honor Society, track team, football team, student body president, "V" Club, student council, and gymnastics. In 1963 Jack attained a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of New Mexico. During that time he was part of the diving and gymnastics teams as well as being involved in Sigma Chi and presiding over Kappa Psi during 1963 as president. Jack put his pharmacy degree to work for him over the next four years as he worked his way through medical school at the University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, Missouri. During medical school not only did he work full time as a pharmacist to pay for school Jack was also part of the student council, Alpha Phi Omega, and Charter Member of the Student Osteopathic Medical Association. Upon graduating in 1968 Jack was awarded a doctorate degree in osteopathic medicine and moved to Phoenix where he obtained the 800th license to practice osteopathic medicine in the state. For the next 20 years Jack was a part of and pioneered many new advancements in emergency medicine at Phoenix General Hospital. After selling his family practice to Dr. Art Mollen in 1973, Jack founded Phoenix Emergency Physicians Limited. P.E.P.L. was later contracted to staff the emergency room at Luke Air Force Base's 832nd Medical Group in 1989 and to open John C Lincoln Deer Valley. He was a part of the ER family at Phoenix Memorial Hospital as well as Mesa General Hospital through 1996. Looking forward to more hunting, fishing, shooting, and clean air Jack moved up to Show Low and joined the family at Navapache Regional Medical Center where he retired in 2007. During his 39 year career in medicine Jack held positions as chairman and director on numerous committees and boards of trustees as well as being involved in many organizations. If there wasn't anything good on the History Channel, you might find Jack sky diving (46 logged jumps), motorcycle riding, playing racquetball, shooting (skeet, IPSC, PPC, or just for fun), camping, fishing, hunting, driving fast or reading. Jack also worked with young minds as a clinical professor for emergency medicine at Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine as well as the College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific. He was loved by all and will be missed by all. Jack is survived by his wife, Lucy; his children, Jack (Shaun) Bouchier, Jr. of Roswell, N.M., Gigi (David) Prusak of Moriarty, N.M., Christopher (Julie) Bouchier of Aurora, Colo., Nicole (Michael) Weis of Aurora, Colo., Kristin (Michael) Rebb of Anthem, Eric (Denise) Andersen of Peoria, Brent Bouchier of Tempe; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 27, at the Elks Lodge, 805 E. Whipple Street in Show Low.
