BEHRENS, David (Nascar Dave)


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, December 07, 2010 David "Nascar Dave" Behrens, 65, died Monday, Dec. 6, 2010, at the Northern Arizona VA Medical Center in Prescott, Ariz. He was born Jan. 1, 1945, in Sterling, Ill., the son of Mason and Twila (Shaw) Behrens. David grew up the son of a mortician and worked for some time with his father until he entered the United States Army. He was honorable discharged in 1965. David is survived by his daughters, Christine (Fred) Hill, Shelley (Morgan) Clay and Tania (Henry) Herrera; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. He is also survived by his sister Joy Behrens; two stepsons, Christopher (Rosie) Rivas and Jason (Jakota) Rivas; four step-grandchildren; and Illona Behrens and Joy Badillo. David was preceded in death by his son Jerry and both parents. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, corner of Cortez and Carleton streets in Prescott. A celebration of David's life will be 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, and a farewell and final commendations will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix with full military honors.
