MCSPADDEN, Solomon Udell

Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ Wednesday, December 08, 2010 S. Udell McSpadden was born Nov. 3, 1932 in Paden, Okla. He was one of nine children born to Martin and Chester McSpadden. He married Patsy Jean Blackmon on April 5, 1952. They had three children while living in Oklahoma, Udon, Teri, and Tobi. Udell was a Chevrolet, Cadillac and Oldsmobile dealer in Hobart, Okla. before moving his family to Arizona in 1968. He started McSpadden Ford in Globe, Ariz. in 1970 which he turned into a thriving business, employing many people over the next 40 years. Udell continued to lend his hand and advice even after retirement. Udell always had a “head for business” and whether he was running the dealership or buying and selling property he always made the wise decision. Udell enjoyed spending time with his family, especially if he could talk them into going Crappie fishing or quail hunting. Udell proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from which he received an honorable discharge. He will be greatly missed by his family and all those who knew him. His family rejoices that he is in heaven and looks forward to seeing him again. “God bless you, Udell.” Udell is survived by his wife Patsy, his son Udon (Kim) McSpadden, his five grandchildren, Eric (Katee) McSpadden, Dusty (Kimmy) McSpadden, Brandi (McKay) Hanson, Stephanie Fuller and Nicole Fuller and his seven great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Dean (Ester) McSpadden and Bob (Shirley) McSpadden; and his sisters, Almeda (Jimmy) Vandiver, Linda (Richard) Davis, and Norma Robison. He is preceded in death by his beloved daughters, Teri Lyn and Tobi Gay. The family requests donations be made to Hospice of the Valley East Mesa, 6063 E. Arbor Ave, Mesa, AZ 85206 or to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 3800 N. Central #700, Phoenix, AZ 85012. Visitation was held on Friday, Dec. 3, 2010 at the Church of the Nazarene in Globe, Ariz. Funeral services were held on Saturday, Dec. 4 at Foothills Southern Baptist Church in Gold Canyon, Ariz. Assisting the family is Lamont Mortuary of Globe.
