The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ August 25, 2008 Wallace Edwin Burk, 92, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at the Beehive Home in Eagar. He was born Oct. 26, 1915, in Nutrioso to Joseph Spence Burk and Clara Adeline Curtis. Wallace worked for a sawmill for 45 years, retiring at age 65. He loved serving others and was a missionary at heart. Working was one of his favorite activities including all parts of sawmilling, gardening and making and improving things. His greatest joy was knowing that his posterity loves and serves the Lord. He is survived by his wife, Elda Wiltbank Burk of Eagar; two sons, Gerrold M. Burk of Perris, Calif., and Steven Ellis Burk of Globe; two stepsons, Charles Wiltbank of Higley and William Wiltbank of Eagar; and 33 grandchildren and 61 great-grandchildren. Wallace was preceded in death by his first wife, Wanda Burk; daughters Carolyn Burk and Janet Yeteve Burk; sons Ronald S. Burk and Edwin Earl Burk; and stepson John Wiltbank. A funeral service was held Monday, Aug. 25, at 11 a.m. with a viewing one hour prior at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Amity Building.
