Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Friday, December 10, 2010 Nordis Kathryn Mortensbak, 76, died peacefully Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, in Flagstaff, with her beloved family by her side. She was born Aug. 20, 1934, to Harold Hansen and Dagmar Satree in Boone County, Neb., the youngest of eight children. She raised her family in Piedmont, S.D., while working in admissions at the Fort Meade VA Hospital for more than 25 years. She then retired and moved to Wickenburg, where she worked part-time at the Hassayampa Elementary School cafeteria. She so enjoyed seeing the children's smiling faces each day. Due to unexpected health issues, she moved to Ponderosa Pines Care & Rehab in Flagstaff in 2007. She loved visiting her family, enjoyed reading, and believed in and collected her "angels." She is survived by her children, Susan Sgrignoli, Pam Anderson, Jodi Petersen, Don (Roberta) Mortensbak, David Mortensbak and Jack Mortensbak; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Julie Marie; daughter Jodi Lynn; one great-granddaughter; her parents; and four siblings. Her wishes were to be laid to rest with her daughter, Jodi Lynn, at the Piedmont Cemetery in Piedmont, S.D. A memorial service will be announced in the late spring or early summer of 2011.
