The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ June 19, 2008 Loving mother and grandmother Ida Tessay Lupe died Sunday, June 15, 2008, at the Copper Mountain Inn Care Center in Globe surrounded by those whom she loved the most, her family. She was 79. Ida was born April 3, 1929, in Cibecue to the late Raymond and Ethel (Dazen) Tessay. Ida married Mowell Lupe Sr. and, in the mid 1960s, joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She has since been a faithful member of the Cibecue Branch. Ida's and Mowell's marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa Arizona Temple, and, over the years, she has received an abundance of joy serving the Lord within the walls of His Holy House. Her husband preceded her in death in May 1992. She was a devoted homemaker to her family throughout her life and lived to serve their needs. This sweet lady will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her. Ida is survived by 11 children, Deoma (Jonathan) Henry, Iva Jean Lupe, Regina (Melvin) Yazzie, Vickie Lupe, Vanae (Ernest) Green, Mowell (Phyllis) Lupe Jr., Leonard Lupe, Yvette (Timothy) Nachu, Brian Lupe, Jerrick (Valentina) Bonito and David (Maxine) Bonito; brother Abner (Galena) Tessay Sr.; sister Gussie (Levi) DeHose; 24 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren. The wake at the family home in Cibecue will begin 10 a.m., Friday, June 20. Funeral services will begin at 10 a.m., Saturday, June 21, at the Cibecue Branch Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment will follow at the Open Range Cemetery in Cibecue. Owens Mortuary of Show Low is handling the arrangements.
