FERGUSON, Larry D.


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ July 14, 2008 Larry D. Ferguson of Holbrook died at his home Thursday, July 10, 2008, with his family by his side. He was born Oct. 16, 1948, in McCook, Neb., to Delmer and Jean Ferguson. Larry was raised in Holbrook where he attended school. He joined the Marines in 1967 and served through the Vietnam War. After serving his country he came home and worked for many years in auto parts and as the City of Holbrook humane officer. Larry married Brenda Connellly and they had two sons. In 1981 he married Sylvia Allen. Larry enjoyed camping, fishing and anything outdoors. He especially enjoyed his time with his grandchildren. Larry was a member of the Holbrook Elks Lodge for 37 years as well as a member of the American Legion. Larry is survived by his wife, Sylvia of Holbrook; sons Aaron and Gary, both of Phoenix; three stepchildren, Del (Michelle) Allen of Flagstaff, Deanne (Mark) Freter of Lakeside and Dianne Nivin of Show Low; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 17, at the Holbrook Elks Lodge No. 2450, 714 Elkdom Ave., in Holbrook. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Larry's name to RTA Hospice Foundation, 1789 W. Commerce Dr., Lakeside, AZ 85929. Owens Mortuary of Holbrook handled the arrangements.
