Richard Arthur Ruffner, 79, passed away Nov. 24, 2010, in Lake Havasu City. He was born on June 9, 1931, in Detroit to Arthur and Margaret Ruffner.
Richard and his wife, Violet, had been residents of Lake Havasu City for the past 18 years. Richard was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in engineering. As a civil engineer, he worked all over the United States. He later worked as a private contractor and building inspector in California. When not traveling in their motor home, Richard enjoyed fishing, boating, gardening, and rock hunting. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and the Havasu GoldSeekers Club.
Richard is survived by his son, Patrick (Cathy) Ruffner; granddaughter, Cathleen (Jayson); and grandson, Michael (Erin). He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Violet. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.lakehavasumortuary.com.
