The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ May 22, 2008 Alice Jeanne Overson Mangum, 65, died Tuesday, May 13, 2008, in Scottsdale. She was born April 6, 1943, in St. Johns to Edgar Pratt Overson and Alice Whiting. Jeanne was a very dedicated and loving mother and wife. Her children always requested her delicious bottled green beans. She made the world's best homemade bread. She was very organized and had everything in its place and a place for everything. Jeanne loved music and was a talented pianist. She is survived by her husband, Lon Mangum of St. Johns; sons Howard Mangum of Nixa, Miss.; Ryan Mangum of Wasilla, Alaska; Aaron Mangum of St. Johns; daughters Carol Nahoolewa of Saginaw, Texas; Karleen Bishop of Wasilla, Alaska; Pamela Stalsworth of Seguin, Texas; 21 grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, brothers Paul Overson of Orem, Utah; Christian Overson of Alpine; Richard Overson of Tacoma, Wash.; and one sister, Barbara VanPelt of Independent, Kan. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, Edgar Pratt Overson and Alice Whiting Overson; brother Leland Overson; and sister Bettie Ann Stewart. A viewing will be held Friday, May 23, from 7-8 p.m. at Burnham Mortuary, 20 South Washington in St. Johns. A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 24, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, St. Johns Downtown Chapel, in St. Johns with a viewing one hour prior. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be made to the Perpetual Education Fund of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Burnham Mortuary of St. Johns handled arrangements.
