Loretta Riggs Crosby, 70, died May 22, 2008, in Utah. She was born Aug. 24, 1937, to Lyle and Willetta Riggs.
Loretta was a homemaker and educator during her lifetime. She received a master's degree in education from Arizona State University. Her specialty was working with gifted children. She was a member of the Brigham Young University Alumni Association. She followed her father's footsteps with the love of Scouting and helping the youth. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her mother, Willetta N. Riggs; husband James Greer Crosby; sons Jimmy R. Crosby of Maricopa, Benjamin E. Crosby of Clinton, Miss., Miles S. Crosby of Provo, Utah, and Garry A. Smith of Winslow; daughter Candice Crosby, of Queen Creek; brothers Ben Riggs and Rod Riggs; sisters Charlene Powell and Sherrill Sumrall; and nine grandchildren.
Loretta was preceded in death by her father Lyle Riggs; mother-in-law Florence Greer Crosby; and father-in-law George Ellis Crosby.
Visitation was held Thursday, May 29, at Burnham Mortuary in St. Johns. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 30, at 10 a.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center in St. Johns.
In memory of Loretta Riggs Crosby, the family would like to create a Children's Scholarship Fund for swimming lessons. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be sent to Bank of the West, St. Johns, in care of Jim Crosby.
