BIGGS,
Orciabell
(Maiden Name: Ahart)
The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ June 5, 2008
Orciabell Ahart Biggs died May 31, 2008. She was born at home in Bristow Creek, Okla., on Sept. 13 1925, one of seven children to Charles Raymond Ahart and Izora Harper Ahart.
Her family migrated to Arizona in November 1929 where her father took work in construction, farming and landscaping.
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, she passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, May 31, at her home in Taylor attended by her husband, Melvin Biggs, her two daughters, Marilynn Downing and Karon Usher, as well as some of her grandchildren.
One of her fondest pastimes was spending time with her family, and it was special to have so much of her family around her at the time of her passing.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Melvin Biggs; her sister, Ivanell "Scottie" Coburn; her brother, David Ahart; her three children, Melvin Biggs Jr., Marilynn Downing and Karon Usher; 22 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
After more than 50 years of service in her accepted faith with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she will be missed by hundreds of friends and associates as well as her family. Her Christian charity was beyond bounds.
She was a dedicated mother who on occasion would take in foster children. She was loathe to have anyone go hungry. All one would have to do was show up at her doorstep and they would leave with something to eat.
"Mom, grandma, sweetheart ... we'll see you later."
Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor handled the arrangements.
