Harriet Zander Murphy, 87, of Portland, Maine, formerly of Alpena, Michigan, Glen Ellyn, Illinois & Scottsdale AZ, died March 20, 2001 at her residence. She was born in Detroit Michigan, the daughter of Ernest & Emma Gapske Zander. She attended schools in Alpena MI, graduating Alpena High School Class of 1931. She also attended College at DuPage in Glen Ellyn IL. While residing in Scottsdale, she was a docent volunteer for 20 years at the Center for the Arts. She moved to Maine to be with her family in 1998. Her love and kindness enriched the lives of those fortunate to have known her. She leaves a son, James R. Murphy of Falmouth; daughter, Janice E. Murphy of Portland; sister, Ruth Bonner of MI; brother, Ernest R. ''Bud'' Zander of Alpena MI; and 4 grandchildren. A Celebration of her Life was held Saturday at Jones, Rich & Hutchens Funeral Home 199 Woodford St, Portland ME 04103. with Rev. James Fletcher officiating. Arizona Republic March 23, 2001
