FLAKE, Franklin Lars (Jake)


The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ June 9, 2008 Sen. Jake Flake Jake Flake died Sunday morning at the Summit Healthcare Regional Medical Center in Show Low at the age of 72. He was named Franklin Lars Flake, however, everyone knew him as "Jake", and was born on August 4, 1935 in Snowflake to the late Virgil Maeser and Gerda (Hendrickson) Flake. Jake was a cattle rancher throughout his life and also spent many years as a legislator for The State of Arizona. He was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in various capacities and leadership positions over the years. Flake is survived by his wife, Mary Louise (Skouson) Flake of Snowflake and their 13 children. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, June 12, at the Snowflake Main Street Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The funeral service will be 11 a.m., Friday, June 13, also at the Snowflake Main Street Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where additional visitation will begin at 9 a.m. The interment will follow at The R.V. "Mike" Ramsay Memorial Park Cemetery in Snowflake.
