Elta Mae Christensen passed away January 24, 2004.
Daughter of Harvey and Emma Pearson, she was born in Plainview, Texas January 24, 1912.
Her husband L.W. Christensen preceded her in death as well as her brother's Jim, S.A., Lester and two sister's Elsie and Roberta. Her daughter Beverly Titgen, son-in-law LeRoy and two grandsons, James and Greg Titgen, survive her. Grandson Steven preceded her in death. She also left behind two great-granddaughters, Crystal Rose Titgen of San Diego, California and Colleen Mae Titgen of Tempe, Arizona. Mae also leaves behind three stepchildren Dane Christensen, Chris Kelly and Tanja Christensen.
Her family moved from Plainview, Texas to Glendale, Arizona, arriving December 24, 1919. The mode of travel from Texas to Arizona was a Model T Ford, camping and cooking meals out as they traveled across the state of Texas and Arizona.
During WWII Mae and her first husband C.W. Wainscott owned and operated two nightclubs, Jack & Lil's, 902 E. Van Buren and the Midway Inn (now known as Durant's.)
She later married L.W. Christensen (Christy) and together they owned Christy Sign's. Christy and Mae loved to travel in their Cortez motor home. At the age of 72 Mae wanted to learn tap dancing and joined The Forever Young Dancer's and became a Twilighter. In 1987 The Forever Young Dancers and Twilighter's danced their way across Denmark and Russia.
Gathering of friends, Saturday, January 31, 2004 at Hansen Mortuary, 8314 N. 7th St., Phoenix, AZ. In lieu of flowers, family and friends are asked to remember her to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower Street, Phoenix, AZ 85014-5669.
