Howard Dean Castleberry passed away Dec. 10, 2010, in Lake Havasu City at the age of 63. He was born to Willard and Edith Castleberry on Aug. 21, 1947, in Los Angeles, Calif.
Howard served proudly under the direction of the U.S. Army doing two tours of duty during Vietnam and was honorably discharged as Staff Sergeant. Following his discharge, he stayed on with the Reserves. He married his beloved bride, Susan Marie Baeyens, May 23, 1970, and together they made Arizona their home 32 years ago from Southern California. Howard was the easiest man to get along with; he loved everyone and was fun loving to be around. He loved to dance, loved motorcycles, and liked working on his ’65 VW bus. Howard held memberships with the Vietnam Motorcycle Club, Elks and the American Legion. What really made Howard happy was when he was able to visit The Wall twice.
Howard leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Susan Castleberry; daughter, Rachel Nicole Castleberry, of Prescott, Ariz.; brothers, Clyde Castleberry, of Corona, Calif., and Gary Castleberry, of Eugene, Ore.; one sister, Della Keener; two nephews, Gus Baeyens and his wife, Jodi, and John Rowe; niece, Wendy Redman and her husband ,Chris; sister in law, Bonnie Rowe and her husband John; and brother in law, Eddie Baeyens, and wife, Lori.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Geraldine Keller.
A celebration of Howard’s life will take place Thursday, at 1 p.m. at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. The VFW Post 9401, American Legion Post 81, and the Patriot Guard will present full military honors.
