Louis Alex Chavez passed away Dec. 12, 2010, in Lake Havasu City at the age of 79. He was born to Pablo and Annie (Bargas) Chavez June 16, 1931, in Raton, N.M.
Louis served under direction of the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Donna Lyons June 6, 1999. He liked watching TV and traveling. His best trip ever was his trip back to his childhood home in Raton, N.M. Louis was very much a family man and loved spending time with family and friends.
Louis leaves behind his wife of 11 years, Donna Lyons-Chavez, of Lake Havasu City; sons, Eddie Chavez, of Lake Havasu City, and Danny Chavez, of Monroe, N.C.; step-son, David Lyons, of Lake Havasu City; step daughter, Margaret Krick, of Quincy, Mich., and Lisa Teller, of Quincy, Mich.; brothers, Elias Chavez, of Taos, N.M., Ernest Chavez, of Hayward, Calif., and Pablo Chavez Jr., of Walnut Creek, Calif.; sister, Lora Romero, of California; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will take place Saturday, at 4 p.m., followed by the Celebration of Louis’ life at 5 p.m. at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Pastor Chris Harper will offer words of comfort and inspiration. The VFW Post 9401 and American Legion Post 81 will present full military honors.
