Loyd “Mac” McNeil passed away in Las Vegas, Nev., Dec. 6, 2010, after a sudden acute illness. He was born in Mississippi to the late Opal Harris and Curtis McNeil.
He met and married his beloved bride, Nancy McKay, while stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base. After his military service, he was employed with Hyer Electronics, Hamilton Avnet, Century Electronics, and Bell Industries in Albuquerque, N.M., and later with Altek Electronics in Tempe, Ariz., and Avnet Electronics in Tucson, Ariz.
Besides his wife, Nancy, he will be much loved and missed by his daughter, Linda Malott and her husband, Alan, along with his grandsons, Brian Malott and Daniel Malott, of Albuquerque, N.M.; and his son, Lynn McNeil, of Tucson, Ariz., Shelley Myers and granddaughter, Stacey. He is preceded in death by his son, Larry McNeil, of Phoenix, Ariz.
He was one of eight children; sister, Mary and husband, Bill; sister, Bess and husband, Dallas; sister, Zelda and husband, Gary; brother, Lewis and wife, Debbie, of Lake Havasu City. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Don and Ben; and sister, Myra.
He was a wonderful husband, father and brother. He enjoyed camping, hunting and boating. He and Nancy retired to Lake Havasu City to enjoy the warm weather and the lake. They made many new and cherished friendships. The following statement was shared with the family, “Everyone liked Mac and there was not a thing he wouldn’t do for anyone, whether he knew them for years or just met them.”
The family plans a Memorial Celebration of his life for later this spring in New Mexico where he raised his family.
