Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona Published Saturday, December 18, 2010 Marilyn Hartley, 78, died in Lake Havasu City on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010, following a long battle with cancer. She was born on Nov. 10, 1932, in Wenatchee, Wash. Marilyn married Charles R. (Bob) Hartley, also of Wenatchee, on Aug. 16, 1952. They lived in Palmdale, Calif., and Pahrump, Nev. Bob preceded her in death in 1999. Marilyn worked in radiology until retiring in 1995. She also owned and taught ballet at the Lancaster School of Performing Arts. Marilyn will be especially remembered for her care and love for her family and friends. Marilyn gave of her time and energy for many social, religious and political organizations. She lived believing she could make a difference in people’s lives and died knowing that she had succeeded in doing exactly that. Survivors include her daughters, Susan (Tom) Thompson, Lake Havasu City, Sharon (Jim) Wassell, Memphis, Tenn.; and son, James Hartley of Pahrump, Nev. Marilyn leaves five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will take place at Evergreen Memorial Park in East Wenatchee at a later date where Marilyn’s ashes will join Bob’s in the Rose Garden.
