HOWELL, William Grady

Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona April 23, 1987, page 5 William Grady Howell, 52, of Sacramento, Calif. died April 11 in Sacramento of cancer. He is survived by his wife, Olga Howell, of Sacramento, Calif.; one daughter, Lynn Prewitt, of Dallas, Texas; two sons Michael Howell, of Jackson, Miss. and Patrick Howell, of Fayetteville, North Carolina and four grandchildren. Other survivors which are former Wickenburg residents include two aunts, Frances Howell Martin, of Sedona, Ariz. and Ruth McGinnis Smith, of Hughton, Calif.; two uncles, Leslie Howell of Georgia and Oliver McGinnis, of California and cousins Charles Woodmansee, of Oregon and Nancy Hopkins Clark of California. A graduate of Wickenburg High School, Howell served in both the Navy and the Air Force, receiving numerous awards including the Air Medal and the DFC. After receiving his BA from Arizona State University in 1959, he taught for 18 years in the Sacramento School District, specializing in math and computer science. Howell was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Martha Howell and grandmother, Mattie Howell Gamwell, longtime residents of Wickenburg.
