BLAIR, Lionel G.


Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ Tuesday, December 14, 2010 A longtime resident of the Globe-Miami area, Lionel G. Blair, age 86, passed away Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at Copper Mountain Inn. He was a graduate of the University of Arizona, earning a degree as a Civil Engineer. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was on the U.S.S. Enterprise Carrier that was stationed in the South Pacific. Lionel was the owner of a Civil Engineering business locally for many years. He worked for the State Corporation Commission in Phoenix and later became the Globe City Manager and then the Gila County Engineer. After his retirement he worked part time for the State Bureau of Land Management in Phoenix. He finally really retired to live in the place he loved so much, the Globe-Miami area, where he enjoyed his large family and listening to his beloved “Jazz Music.” Lionel will be greatly missed by his family and friends. Lionel Blair leaves behind in loving memory his wife, Josephine Blair of Globe, Ariz.; daughter, Rosemary Castaneda of Miami, Ariz.; son, Tom Blair of Superior, Ariz.; sister, Mary Sparks of Lakewood, Colo.; five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Funeral services for Lionel G. Blair were held Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at Miles Funeral Services Miami Chapel, 309 W. Live Oak Street in Miami. Interment with Military Honors were held at Globe Cemetery, Hackney Ave., Globe, Ariz. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Miles Funeral Services Miami.
