Leon G. Murphy, 92, died April 19, 2008. Leon was born July 6, 1915, in Waldport, Ore., to George and Mamie (Reynolds) Murphy.
He and his family moved to Snowflake in 1962 where he worked at the papermill until he retired in 1974 and moved to Duncan. During his retirement he enjoyed mining and rock hunting. He spent many hours scouring the hills of Southeastern Arizona.
Leon was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Verda Murphy; two sons, Ted (Thelma) of Kaneohe, Hawaii, and Rod (Diane) Murphy of Snowflake; and four grandchildren, Cathy Murphy, Ian Murphy, Megan Murphy and Ronnie Murphy.
Memorial services will be held April 29 at 10 a.m. at the Pioneer Park Chapel of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Snowflake.
