Arthur P. Romero, 83, of Chillicothe, Ohio, died unexpectedly Friday evening, April 25, 2008, at his residence. Arthur was born May 1, 1924, in Springerville to the late Frank S. and Felice Padilla Romero.
Mr. Romero was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Ohio and retired from the Goodyear Atomic/Martin Marietta Plant. He was also a retired chief petty officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve after 41 years and a veteran of W.W. II and Korea. He was a lifetime member of Naval Enlisted Reserve Association and graduated from the New York School of Mechanical Dentistry and attended Ohio University.
On June 25, 1950, he married the former Jean Campbell, who survives. He is also survived by his children, Arthur Romero of Austin, Texas, Colleen (Michael) Van Steen of Cedarville, Ohio, Arleen (Francisco) Pineda of Columbus, Ohio, Eric Romero of Fairlawn, Ohio, Mary (David) Nihiser of Guilford, Ind., and Aaron (Jennifer) Romero of Athens, Ohio; three grandchildren; sisters Flossie Traeger of Monterey Park, Calif., and Jennie Ibarra of Whittier, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sisters Mary Tarteglia and Barbara Baca; brothers Clovis, Lonnie, Amie, Danny and Frank Romero and Mike Baca.
Funeral services were held 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, in the Ware Funeral Home with Rev. Tad Grover officiating. Burial followed in Floral Hills Memory Gardens where military graveside rites were conducted by the Ross County Veterans Honor Guard.
