The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ May 5, 2008 Eloisa L. Chavez, 79, died Friday, April 30, 2008, at RTA Hospice in Lakeside. She was born Aug. 17, 1928, in Belen, N.M., to Juan and Sophia Landavazo. Eloisa enjoyed making lunches for family and friends who were working at the ranch. She is survived by her husband, Albert Chavez of St. Johns; son Mariano (Angie) Chavez of St. Johns; daughter-in-law Merlinda Chavez of Phoenix; two grandchildren, John Chavez and Joshua Chavez; great-grandson John Ryan Chavez; and sister Vivan Duran of Phoenix. Eloisa was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Johnny Chavez and Andrew Chavez; one grandson, Andy Chavez Jr.; and two brothers, Narcisio Garcia and Andy Landavazo. A rosary was held Sunday, May 4, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Funeral Mass was held Monday, May 5, also at the church. Interment followed at the St. Johns Catholic Cemetery. Burnham Mortuary of St. Johns, handled arrangements.
