Valora Butler Webster, 89, died Wednesday, April 30, 2008, at her home in Eagar. She was born Feb. 14, 1919, in Eagar to John Eddy Butler and Rebecca Nelson.
She married Lavon Edward Webster in the Mesa Temple Nov. 14, 1939. Valora was a secretary for many years at the county courthouse, Clifton schools and Eastern Arizona College, retiring in 1984. She was also a seamstress and sewed for many people besides her own family, which she did for many years up until shortly before her death. She made an afghan for each of her 37 grandchildren upon high school graduation and most of her 109 great-grandchildren.
Valora is survived by her sons, Frank (Marsha) Webster and Doug (Laurie) Webster; daughters Nedra (Gerald) Thygerson, Janice (John) Allen and Lorna (Phil) Whatcott; daughter-in-law Donna Webster; 37 grandchildren; 109 great-grandchildren; brothers Karl Butler and Lavar Butler; and one sister, Melva Cosper.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lavon Webster; son John Webster; daughter-in-law Jeannette Webster; grandchildren Brady Allen, Keri Sherwood and Brandt Allen; brothers Ervan Butler and Dallace Butler; and sister Rozelda Wilkins.
A viewing was held Sunday, May 4, at Burnham Mortuary in Eagar. Funeral services were held Monday, May 5, with a viewing one hour prior at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Springerville Ward Building.
Interment followed at the Wards Canyon Cemetery in Clifton.
