Peninsula Daily News (Port Angeles WA) Thursday, August 17, 2006 George L. Gilbert, 85, of Congress, Arizona, formerly of Port Angeles, passed away at sunrise on Aug 3, 2006. George served in World War II in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Augusta in the Atlantic Theater, worked on an Arizona ranch, and ran farming and construction businesses before retiring to travel. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Doris, and three children, Louis of Port Angeles, Lenore of Amesbury, Mass., and Henry of Surf City, North Carolina. He also had four grandchildren, Matthew, Kathryn, Meagan and George Alex.
