FOREMAN,
Deborah Kaye (Debby)
(Maiden Name: Shaffer)
The White Mountain Independent,
Show Low, Arizona ~ May 19, 2008
Deborah Kaye "Debby" Foreman died Thursday, May 15, 2008, at her Vernon home following a lengthy illness. She was 56.
Debby was born Sept. 5, 1951, at the Great Lakes Naval Base in Illinois to the late Donald D. and Juanita Sue (Derickson) Shaffer.
In her younger years, Debby lived in Anchorage, Alaska, where she worked as a licensed nurse practitioner. She enjoyed all that Alaska had to offer and thoroughly enjoyed "The Great Outdoors," especially hunting, fishing and camping.
While there, Pope John Paul II made a visit to the state and Debby literally camped outside the night before he officiated at a mass, so she could be in attendance. She cherished the rosary beads that he personally blessed for her.
Debby moved to Arizona from Alaska about 25 years ago. She continued working in the health-care industry as a registered nurse for the Arizona Department of Corrections in Florencea.
She married Charles Meredith "Mike" Foreman III in Phoenix March 3, 1989. In 1998 she had to retire from nursing due to her health. The following year, she and Mike moved to Vernon, where they have since resided.
She is survived by her husband of 19 years, Mike Foreman of Vernon; two sisters, Rayna Bailey (Pat) of West Cliff, Colo., and Ronnie Hughes of Phoenix; aunt Betty Matherley (Gilbert) of Phoenix West Valley; sister-in-law Betty Exline of Lakeside; several nieces and nephews as well as numerous grand and great-grand nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held. Contributions to RTA Hospice and Palliative Care, 1789 W. Commerce Drive, Lakeside, AZ 85929 have been suggested by her family.
Owens Mortuary of Show Low handled the arrangements.
