Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, Arizona - Published Tuesday, December 28, 2010 - Jean Elizabeth Whalen passed away Dec. 24, 2010 in Lake Havasu City at the age of 92. She was born to Charles and Ida (McAlister) Horrocks on July 26, 1918 in Winona, W.Va. Jean was active with the Baptist church. She enjoyed going to the mountains and visiting with family. She loved her children and grandchildren and loved going out to dinner. Jean leaves behind her beloved family, daughter, Jean Clare Allen; son, William Charles Beattie; seven grandchildren; and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George Julius Whalen; brother, Todd Horrocks; two sisters, Norma and Peggy; and a grandson, David Charles Allen. Funeral services will take place at Desert View Funeral Home in Victorville, Calif. on Jan. 4, 2011 at 2 p.m. Burial will follow at Desert View Cemetery.
