The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, AZ Tuesday, December 28, 2010 Dale Robert Brown (1920-2010) Dale Robert Brown, resident of Sedona, AZ, for 23 years and more recently of Cottonwood, AZ, passed away peacefully on Thursday December 16th, 2010 at the age of 89 after a period of failing health. He was the son of Frank Brown and Elsie (McCafferty) Brown. He was born December 23, 1920, in Danville, Illinois, and lived there until his graduation from Danville High School in 1939. After graduation, he was employed by Boeing in Wichita, Kansas. He then served in the Merchant Marines for five years as a radio officer. He married Estelle (Brunila) Brown in 1949, and lived in the San Francisco Bay area for many years, then moved to Cherry Hill, N.J. He was employed by RCA Service Company for 34 years, serving first as a TV technician, then as manager of R.F. Communications Sales and then as Administrator of Entertainment and Industrial Services. He had a passion for traveling and exploring new places and had visited the Orient, Far East, China, Europe, Russia, and had enjoyed extensive travel throughout Canada, Mexico and the United States. He was an avid golfer and an active member of Oak Creek Country Club for many years. In his retirement he took up silver-smithing and enjoyed making jewelry for his family. He leaves his wife of 61 years, Estelle Brown of Cottonwood, AZ; daughter Karin Kristin Holmes of Francestown, NH; and son-in-law Leonard Holmes of Francestown, NH. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, was a wonderful and loving husband and father and will be greatly missed. Services will be held in the spring.
