HELEN M. HICKS, 80 PHOENIX, Ariz. - Helen M. Hicks, 80, of Phoenix, Ariz., died on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2007, in Phoenix. Born Oct. 17, 1926, in Belmont, Wis., the daughter of Herman and Bertha Heinz Bartels. She lived in Rockford from 1952 until 1983, when she moved to Phoenix. She had formerly worked at Woodward Governor Co. and the Ben Franklin Store. She is survived by three sons, Bernard (Marlene Boignzahn) Hicks of Lena, Ill., Robert (Jane) Hicks of Rockford, Ill., and Garrett (Brenda) Hicks of Phoenix; brothers, Irvin Bartels of Darlington, Wis., and Merlin Bartels of Belmont, Wis.; sister, Lucille Meyer from Freeport, Ill.; special friend, Eddy Parrini of Phoenix; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews including Don Bartels. Preceded in death by her parents; three brothers and four sisters. A memorial visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, in Julian-Poorman-Welte Funeral Home in Rockford. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials in care of the family. Rockford Register Star-2007
