BIEHN, Bryson George


Parker Pioneer, Parker, Arizona - Published Friday, May 21, 2010 - Bryson George Biehn, 80 of Big River, California passed away May 8, 2010 at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix. He was born April 23, 1930 in Cleveland, Minn. As a lad, he served as an altar boy and delivered the newspaper and attended John Ireland Elementary School. Bryson came to California in 1943 where his family settled in Bell Gardens. He attended Bell Gardens Junior High School and Montebello High School. He played baseball in high school. He joined the Navy in 1948 and served aboard the USS Carmick, spending many months in Korea. Sister Lorraine introduced him to Candy on one of his weekend leaves. They went together three months, on weekends, and married May 31st, 1952. In 1954 he was transferred to Charleston, SC, where they spent 2 � years. The next 2 � years were spent in Havre de Grace, Md., located on the Chesapeake Bay, north of Baltimore. Ships he served on were the Carmick, Coursier, Gwin, and Charlie R Ware. Bryson worked for Crosstown Bus Lines and then RTD. They purchased a home in Garden Grove and resided there 18 years, where he was employed by the City of Garden Grove. This is where he met Vince Motes and Albert DeArcos. It was December of 1978 when they moved to Big River. Bryson and Candy both became involved in the American Legion where they each held office. Bryson loved watching sports and playing cribbage with friends on the computer. Graveside Services for Bryson were May 14, at Parker Cemetery in Parker, Ariz. There was a Memorial Service May 15, at the American Legion Post #466 in Big River, Calif. Parker Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
