SMITH, Cassius (Bud)

Cassius (Bud) Smith, 91, died Dec 19, 2003. He was a trombonist during the Big Band era playing with Glenn Miller, Woody Herman & many others. He married Evelyn F. Smith in 1934. He started a second career as an Industrial Engineer with Armour and lived in Memphis, Chicago & Phoenix, retiring after 35 years. His beloved wife Evelyn died in 2003 after a 66 year marriage. He is survived by a brother, Frederick Smith of Phoenix, daughter, Sigrid Dunbar & her husband, Curt of Raleigh, NC. & son, Frederick Smith & his wife Pamela of Boring, Oregon, six grandchildren and four great- grandchildren. Memorial service Sat., Jan. 24, 2004, at Church of the Beatitudes. Memorials may be made to Church of the Beatitudes, 555 West Glendale Ave., Phoenix, Ariz. 85021.
